Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.

This warrior group features Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.

That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.

At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might look out of place, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise started the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.

Casimir then settled his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each character has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, desires revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the party reach locations they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:

  • Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.

This results in them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Explorers and Schemers tables.

Fans can expect learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
